Delaney, Michael

Of Sandwich, formerly of Waltham, passed away suddenly. November 6, 2017 at his home. He was 67. Born and raised in Waltham to the late Leo F. and Estelle (Frechette) Delaney, he was a lifelong resident of Waltham until moving to Sandwich in June. Mr. Delaney received his Vocational Teacher's Certificate from the University of Massachusetts. He was the carpentry instructor for the Waltham Vocational High School and Waltham High School for over 30 years until his retirement several years ago. He was also a member of the Carpentry Local 40 of Boston. Michael really loved carpentry and won several awards for his work including a national award from Toys for Tots for some of the toys he and his class created. He enjoyed camping with his family at Tuxbury Pond and Point Sebago in New Hampshire. He told the best campfire ghost stories. He coached his kids at Warrendale Little League and Waltham Youth Hockey. He had an unbelievable sweet tooth, enjoyed playing horseshoes, but most of all loved spending time with his family. He was the loving father of the late Jeffrey Delaney and brother of the late Richard Delaney. He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years Marcia (Devoe) Delaney, his devoted daughters Stacey Delaney Rogers and her husband Michael of Bourne and Jennifer Delaney Stimson and her husband Jared of Maryland his 8 brothers and sister Denise Hernandez, Patricia MacNeil, Paul Delaney, Priscilla Scanio, Dennis Delaney, Peter Delaney, Danielle Delaney, and Paula Murray, and his cherished grand children Avery, Claudia, Emerson, Maxwell, and Haley.
