Fandel, Francis X.,October 28, 2016, Newhall, School Street, FitzGerald

FANDEL, Francis X. 88, of Arlington, died Friday, October 28, 2016 at Brigham and Women's Hospital. Born October 16, 1928 in Cambridge, a son of the late Theodore Fandel and the late Catherine (Reynolds) Fandel, he was the youngest of 5 boys. Educated in Newton, Frank was a graduate of Walnut Park School and later Cambridge-Rindge and Latin High School. After high school he started his own business in rubber products until he was drafted into the U.S. Army. He served his country in Korea and was also stationed at Fort Devens for a time. Following his discharge he attended Mass College of Pharmacy and furthered his education with a masters degree in Education from Boston University. Frank was employed as a teacher in the Waltham school system for over 39 years before his retirement. He enjoyed spending his summers at Kennebunk, Maine. Frank is survived by 2 brothers; Thomas Fandel and his wife, Marie, of Natick and James Fandel and his wife, Catherine, of Burlington, several nieces and nephews, among them, Maryann Ciampi of Medford, two great nieces, as well as many cousins, including Helen McNamee, and of course his beloved dog "Mike". Additionally, he leaves behind many good friends amongst the staff and the residents at Stonebridge Assisted Living in Burlington. Frank was the brother of the late William Fandel and the late Theodore (Brother Joe) Fandel SHJM. He was also the devoted nephew of the late Margaret Reynolds.
