The Committee

Mary Ellen Fulton

I worked in Waltham for many years meeting wonderful students, parents and other employees. I student taught my senior year at Emmanuel College at MacArther and was hired to teach '71-'81 until I had my son Michael! I earned my Masters in Reading from Suffolk University, at night, during this time.

I stayed home raising three children, Katie and Molly followed Michael. I was certified by the OFC and taught one year at Christ Lutheran pre-school Reading Readiness, when Molly attended. I was an adjunct teacher at Bunker Hill Community College for many years teaching Advanced ESL Reading, and loved it! I also taught a course in Reading and Writing for students needing help in remediation.

In '95 I returned to Waltham full time and taught 3rd grade for 11 years: Fitch to Banks and then to the brand new Stanley. One year I taught a 4th grade class and loved that too. I retired after teaching second grade for many years. Since then I have traveled at least twice a year. Hawaii, Vegas, Aruba, Mexico, Dominican Republic and to Venice, FL yearly for 2-3 months. Our favorite has been the many years staying 3-4 weeks on Saint Martin Feb and March. Must say I loved teaching and am really enjoying retirement!
