Generoso, Carol Wallace, Feb. 14, 2019    Waltham High English Dept.

Carol J. (Wallace) Generoso, of Needham, died Thursday, February 14, 2019 at her home. She was 68. Carol was born in Waltham on December 26, 1950, a daughter of the late Edward A. "Buddy" and Patricia L. (Forster) Wallace. She was a 1968 graduate of Waltham High School and after graduating from Brandeis University in 1972 she began a thirty-five year teaching career.

She taught English at Waltham High School but spent most of her career at Hopkinton High School. Carol earned a Master's degree in Education from Boston College and during the 1991/92 school year was awarded a Fulbright Exchange teaching position in Liverpool, England. After returning home she and her family moved to Needham.
Throughout her life she enjoyed swimming and was a talented gardener at home. In her youth she played tennis and enjoyed many happy summers with her family in Mattapoisett, Dennis and on Martha's Vineyard.

Retirement afforded Carol the chance to travel extensively with her husband, Jim, and to spend time at their cottage at Lake Pawtuckaway in Nottingham, New Hampshire where she found great peace, light, joy and refreshment.

She leaves her husband, James J. Generoso, Jr.; her children, RJ Poirier (Kathleen) of Needham and Nicole Poirier (Dave Fredette) of Boston; her grandchildren, Austin Poirier and Cameron and Charlotte Fredette and her sister, Billie Jane Swisher of Waltham.
