Helen Rae Wentworth

Helen graduated from Waltham High School in 1957 and then graduated from the Newton-Wellesley Hospital School of Nursing. As a Registered Nurse, Helen worked in the Children’s Hospital in Boston, and then for a private practice surgical office. She also worked for many years as a school Nurse for the city of Waltham.

Helen broadened her education at New England Institute where she completed the work to become a licensed Funeral Director. She then joined Alden at Wentworth and Sons Funeral Home where they provided comfort and support to the residents of Waltham and the surrounding communities.

Helen retired to Brewster MA and Bluffton SC, where she grew her circle of friends and enjoyed many outdoor activities including tennis, golf and kayaking. She found her way back home to Cape Cod where she always felt the happiest.

Helen is survived her four children: son Jay and his wife Dot of Shrewsbury, daughter Nancy and her husband Mike Murphy of Plymouth, daughter Julie and her husband Jim O’Donnell of Bluffton SC, and son David of St. Petersburg FL.

She is also survived by 7 grandchildren, Lauren, Melissa, Leah, Daniel, Michael, Alex, and Maxine, and her great-granddaughter Katherine, and several nieces and nephews.
